ABOUT
On 14 November, Live at Our Place invites you to an evening of contemporary improvisation and modern jazz, where structure gives way to spontaneous creation. Singularity Point opens with a set that blends composed themes with free improvisation, weaving evolving melodies, layered textures, and raw dissonance into a living dialogue with the audience. Japee’s Concepts follows with an acoustic performance that moves between tenderness and intensity, drawing from influences like Hanna Paulsberg Concept, The Bad Plus, and John Coltrane to craft a sound both atmospheric and bold. Expect a night of connection, creativity, and sonic journeys.
PERFORMERS
SINGULARITY POINT
Singularity Point is a band that draws its name from the astronomical concept where known laws of physics collapse into infinite possibility. This concept shapes their approach to sound - creating music where structure gives way to spontaneous creation.
Combining improvisation with original composition, the group explores the balance between form and freedom. Their compositions include melodies that evolve into complex polyphonic textures, where dissonance isn't something to avoid but a tool to express raw emotion and complexity. Each performance becomes a living process, shaped by the energy of both the musicians and the audience, creating a shared experience where music becomes a way to explore connection and collective discovery.
