About the event

Hadath el Jebbeh cedars forest snowshoeing
Dear snow lovers,

The first event in January will be a snowshoeing event on Sunday January 11 inside the majestic cedars & pine forest of Hadath el jebbe.
We will take u to Becharre district - Hadath el Jebbeh - where u can witness majestic cedars located on the upper limit of the Qadisha valley and near Tannourine cedars reserve.

General information:
The semitic root of Hadath means the new. Hadath could mean the new town.
The common pronunciation of the name is Hadad or H'adid . It gives an indication to a probable different meaning. Hadad was the northwest Semitic storm and rain God and the town could have had a temple dedicated to this god. And the popular tradition claims that the church dedicated to the saint patron of Hadath, Saint Daniel, was built on the remnants of a pagan temple.
Jebbeh is the traditional name of the Kadisha region, called also Jebbet Bsharri in reference to Bsharri the largest town of this region. The Semitic root Gb means well, deep and could be a reference to the deep gorges of the Kadisha. In Lebanon, other Jebbeh exist like Jebbet Mnaytra and Jebbet Yanuh.

The villages that surround hadath El jebbe are tannourine, niha, qnat, becharre, qannoubine valley. In the past, its forests covered most of its lands and the largest homa El mir bachir forest. That forest whose borders extended from hadath El jebbe to niha, qnat, and tannourine which was considered the largest in the region which contains cedars, pine trees, junipers, oak trees..
Hadath el jebbe is located on the extended mountain range from mar semaan to akoura.

Description of the trail:
We will start inside the village between old houses around 300m as a distance at an altitude of 1500m. Then we will wear our snowshoes to discover an amazing trail inside a wide landscape of pine trees covered with snow, then we will take a moderate uphill between pine trees and cedars. From the south, we can see a dense cedar forest of tannourine cedar reserve and from the north bazoun hasroun ehden , qannoubine valley, becharre cedars. After passing the pine trees, we will take another path between a dense cedar forest covered with snow like you are walking inside a winter wonderland until we reach an altitude of 1700m.
At this point, we will observe a panoramic view of tannourine mountains and cedars, qadisha valley, makmal mountains and Becharre.
