This intimate evening of stories and songs was created by Charlie Rhindress, author of the best-selling Rita MacNeil biography, also called I’m Not What I Seem.
A four piece, all female group, led by New Brunswick's Queen of the Blues, Theresa Malenfant, will perform many of MacNeil’s best-known songs as well as some hidden gems. Malenfant will be joined by the extraordinarily talented Jennie Del Motte, Carley Varner-Joudrey, and Heather MacIntyre. This celebration of Rita’s life and music will be hosted by Rhindress, who will read from his book and talk about his experience working with Rita on his play about her life, Flying On Her Own.
Audience Response:
“Loved this show and everyone in it. It was fantastic! Hats off to all the singers and the storyteller! Rita would be proud!” – J.V.
“You outdid yourself. The show was amazing. One of the best shows I have ever seen. You have incredible talent and your cast is amazing. Bravo!” – V.B.
"The show was fantastic. It wasn't a walk down memory lane with all of Rita's greatest hits. It was a peek behind the curtain of who she was. Charlie Rhindress spoke with the feeling and eloquence of someone who respected her work and her legacy, but also as someone who took the time to know her, not just as a fan but as a friend." - J.P.B.
