Food Safety Course: Fruit and Vegetable Production

Join Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Safe Produce Program for an introduction to food safety principles for production of fruits and vegetables. The course includes:

*Microbiological contamination sources during growing
*Safe harvesting, and handling fruits and vegetables
*Actions to mitigate these microbiological hazards that have the potential to affect consumer safety

This course is suitable for beginning gardeners and experienced produce farmers, and especially helpful if you grow produce for donation to local food pantries. The program will provide the public with an introductory education of food safety during production of fruits and vegetables because a potential public health hazard can be present as a result of the consumption of raw fruits and vegetables contaminated with disease-causing microorganisms.
