2025 sees the release of Lucy Mellenfield’s highly anticipated debut album, Tell The Water, She Will Listen. She embarks on her pre-release tour this summer. The songs explore her love of jazz, folk, and alternative genres, interweaving improvisation and folk melodies, immersive soundscapes and thought-provoking lyrics.
Fragility is a core theme running through the album, drawing on personal perspectives on heartache and loss, societal pressures, the human condition, and women’s health. Lucy is joined by a group of exceptional musicians, threading layers of colour, texture, and depth into each song. Expect to be moved by the honesty and raw nature of her soul-baring performance.

The band met while studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Lucy Mellenfield initially began playing in a trio with saxophonist, Alex Collett-Sinfield, and guitarist, Tom Henery. In 2023, the line-up was completed with Josh Vadiveloo on double bass and Jonno Gaze on drums.
In recent years, Lucy has performed her music at venues and festivals across England, namely Cheltenham Jazz Festival, HowTheLightGetsIn (London), Power Folk Festival, Sofar Sounds, The Spotted Dog, Centrala and several sold out shows at The Green Note. In 2024 the full band recorded the new album with London-based producer Chris Hyson.
Lucy Mellenfield previously released music while living in Southampton. Her EP, In My Short Time, caught the attention of Steph Nieuwenhuys on BBC Introducing, with her single Beautiful Soul making the Best of 2020 show. Her debut single, Tournesols, gained the reputation as ‘monumental’ from Voice FM. As well as a prolific songwriter, Lucy has produced her own music videos, collaborating with dancers and videographers to realise her visions. Her first video was filmed in the sand dunes of South Wales, which accompanied her 2022 single, Desert.
