Don Schmidt was a loving and devoted husband and father who cherished every moment with family and friends. His unwavering faith, selflessness, and genuine love for those around him made him not only a wonderful husband and father, but also a pillar of strength and support. With a warm sense of humor and a zest for life, Don had a way of bringing joy to everyone he met. Whether out on the water enjoying a day of boating or tending to projects around the house, he found happiness in life's simple pleasures. His adventurous spirit, deep love for his family, and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Don's legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Don lost his leg in a boating accident at 20 and almost didn’t survive. He always felt he was given a second chance at life and treated every day that way, never letting his limb loss be a limitation. He was passionate about helping others affected by limb loss, which is why we’re giving to a cause that supports children with limb loss and limb difference.
All proceeds from the Don Schmidt Golf Memorial will be sent directly to Camp No Limits in the Honor of Don Schmidt.
Founded in 2004, Camp No Limits was developed to address the needs of children with limb loss / limb difference and their families by providing an opportunity to meet other families “like them”. Camp No Limits offers a unique family camp experience that engages both parent and child through peer support, adaptive recreation activities, and state-of-the-art prosthetic education.
Unlike any other program, Camp No Limits offers programs designed by specialized Occupational and Physical Therapists, Prosthetists, and adults with limb loss / limb difference. We aim to optimize the functional independence of children with limb loss / limb difference and provide support for the children, parents, siblings, and other family members as well.
