In our final gig before the Christmas break, with the club next returning on 15th January 2026, we are delighted to present the outstanding frontline pairing of Liam Byrne (saxophone) and Bryan Corbett (trumpet).
Liam Byrne has earned a reputation as one of the most authentic voices in the classic tenor saxophone tradition. His warm, breathy sound and unhurried lyricism evoke the timeless elegance of Lester Young and Ben Webster, while his modern melodic clarity and relaxed swing bring a freshness that audiences adore. Byrne has shared the stage with many of Britain’s finest mainstream jazz musicians, among them Alan Barnes, Digby Fairweather, Bruce Adams and Roy Williams, and continues to be celebrated for his expressive, thoughtful approach.
Joining him is the exceptional Bryan Corbett, long regarded as one of the UK’s most versatile and compelling trumpet players. Corbett’s career spans an extraordinary range of collaborations: he has recorded and toured with The Brand New Heavies, Tony Christie, Us3, Alesha Dixon, Beverley Knight, Mica Paris, Ruby Turner, and countless other leading artists across both jazz and commercial realms. His work as a featured soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Big Band Małopolski (Kraków), alongside accolades such as the Jerwood Rising Star award at the Cheltenham International Festival and the Symphony Hall Birmingham Poll Winner’s Prize, attest to his artistry and musical reach.
At the piano will be the truly exceptional Tom Kincaid, a musician whose style effortlessly fuses the dazzling intricacy of Art Tatum with the relaxed, lyrical charm of Erroll Garner. Kincaid’s impeccable ear, dynamic playing and natural swing feel have established him as one of Europe’s most in-demand jazz pianists. His career includes performances across the UK and internationally, accompanying artists as varied as Elkie Brooks, Scott Hamilton, Art Themen, Alan Barnes, and even Shakin’ Stevens. Known for his profound understanding of jazz piano, Kincaid makes every phrase sing with personality and flair. His appearances at prestigious venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and The 606 Club are a testament to his stature and enduring appeal.
Completing the quintet are Peter Robinson (bass) and Roger Keay (drums), whose assured musicianship and intuitive feel provide a perfect rhythmic canvas for this standout frontline.
