About the event

Thrive Together: How Creativity & Connection Build Youth Resilience
A day of hands-on experiences, performances & conversations to share insights, spotlight youth programs working in Maine & highlight youth voice through art, music & more, with program activities both indoors & outdoors.

Free and open to the public w/ lunch included – rain or shine, arrive or leave anytime!

Thank you to Hearty Roots for sponsoring this event, and thank you to Fernald's Country Store and Maine Youth Thriving for in-kind support.

OUTDOOR PROGRAM:

Throughout the day – Learn about Maine youth programs while enjoying music & presentations, creative activities, “Consent Bingo” with Speak About It, a youth art show & more.

10:00-11:30 – Youth music, performance & presentation showcase, organized by the teens of Fernald’s Country Store.

11:30-12:15 – Join DanceMaineia in a hip-hop communal dance.

12:15-1:00 – Sandwiches, chips, and brownies, provided for free by Fernald’s Country Store. Join Valo during our lunchtime break for adventures in dessert decorating...and satisfy your sweet tooth to boot!

2:20-2:40 – Interactive activity on the dynamics of a healthy relationship, led by Speak About It’s Oronde Cruger.

2:40-3:00 – Inclusive Community Dance experience for all ages with Michaela Knox Director of Spark Inclusive Arts.

INDOOR PROGRAM:

10:45-Noon – "Making Space for Youth to Matter," featuring Meg LeMay (Maine Youth Thriving), Char Corbett (Healthy Kids), Haley Bezon (Hearty Roots), Jamie Silvestri (ArtVan), Joseph Hufnagel (The Landing Place), and Alexandra Welch (Fernald’s Country Store), a rich array of presentations and audience conversation on cultivating environments to help youth thrive.

1:00-2:15 – "Youth Mattering: What Adults Need to Know," centering youth voice and perspectives, a lineup of young speakers from a variety of youth programs offer their take on what it means to matter, how adults can effectively help.
