Folk singers and songwriters Michael Prysock and Darren Dement will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the Allen Heritage Village, 450 E. St. Mary. FREE!

A singer-songwriter deeply affected by life in rural Arkansas, Michael Prysock shares real stories of his family, past and present. Skipping the clichéd romance songs, he moves purposefully to lyrics that reflect the authenticity of living. Uniquely talented and masking a humility not often seen in today’s contemporary musical bravado, Michael offers spirited vocals, guitar and harmonica to the raw soundtrack of small-town life. He sings about death as if it was a character in his lyrics and not an event that happens.

Darren Dement proudly hails from south Louisiana but has called Texas home for the past 25 plus years. He grew up steeped in Southern gospel music but claims a wide range of musical influences. Playing guitar and mandolin, he often uses his musical talents in worship events. Darren performed on and coordinated production of the Wilshire Roots album, that was released in 2020.
