Amanda, a Douglas County local, has long been interested in participating in the Derby at the Douglas County Fair.
Her involvement volunteering in her community has heightened her awareness of the community's needs in supporting the efforts against Domestic Violence.
After she found herself utilizing the same support she once gave she wanted to do more to give back.
Growing onto the supportive networks in our community from her goal of being in the Derby.
These nonprofits offer critical resources, including education, support, shelter, and advocacy, to those impacted by Domestic Violence

"The passion project is about the impact domestic violence has in our community.
The Derby gives our community the perfect display of what impact truly is."
This started off as a fundraiser for local nonprofits who helped and supported me in so many ways throughout my Journey. I wanted to raise money using sponsorship decals.
This year's focus is domestic violence. So other nonprofits in our community that support victims can receive additional support financially as well as opportunities with advertisement, additional volunteers utilizing our cotton candy machine and offer ways to support growth of their nonprofits
"We have a different Focus each year to raise money for other nonprofits in our local community. this year's focus is domestic violence next year's Focus will be voted in by the passion projects board and community members submissions. Other nonprofits that provide resources for that topic will have an opportunity of receiving funds from the Derby that year.
