PLASTICPHONIA – A Concert by Crystn Hunt Akron May 16, 2025 | 7 PM | Jesuit Cultural Center, Alexandria
What does plastic pollution sound like? Can waste become music — and can music inspire change?
Join Austrian sound artist and composer Crystn Hunt Akron for a one-of-a-kind concert that transforms discarded plastic into an electro-acoustic soundscape. PLASTICPHONIA is more than a performance — it’s a sonic response to our environmental crisis.
In this live concert, Crystn will use plastic bottles, bags, and everyday debris to produce textured, layered compositions that speak to the urgency of our planet’s plastic problem.
PLASTICPHONIA is a full-scale, high-impact concert that merges art and activism with stunning visuals and rich, layered sound. This live show also features material created during a three-day workshop with local participants, who explored how plastic waste can become a tool for sound-making and storytelling. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind experience.

This workshop is supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum in the framework of SABBART:
How to imagine a world that benefits both – us and our ecosystem?
SABBART, a blend of Sabbar (Arabic for “cactus”) and Art, explores how arts and culture can shape a more sustainable future.
In its second edition, SABBART turns to the elements — fire, water, earth, and wind — as the natural forces that shape our landscapes, sustain life, and challenge our ways of living. Through diverse artistic perspectives and cultural exchanges, we aim to inspire reflection and dialogue for a more eco-social world.
Hosted by the EUNIC Cluster Egypt, SABBART will run at various venues in Egypt during May and June 2025.
