Andrea Kirwin is a soulful Australian-Fijian singer-songwriter whose rich, expressive voice flows with the warmth of gospel harmony and heartfelt storytelling.
Since picking up a guitar at 21 and leaving her arts/law degree behind, Andrea has been on a 20-year musical journey—touring independently with her first band, The Andi & George Band, founding Peace Run Records and Agency in 2009, and releasing five independent albums between 2013 and 2021. Her second album, The Story of Us (2015), was nominated for a Queensland Music Award, while her album Bloom (2021) earned nominations in both the Folk and World Music categories—and she also won the QMA in 2022 for Best Children’s Song, co-written with Nyssa Ray.
Drawing from her multicultural upbringing between Australia and Fiji—as the daughter of a Fijian preacher—and steeped in gospel-tinged harmonies, Andrea blends acoustic folk, soul, and island-inspired warmth into original compositions layered with melodic grace and emotional resonance. Whether performing as a duo with her wife Claire Evelynn on Celtic harp, or leading her 13-piece ensemble, The Yama-Nui Social Club, Andrea always leaves space within the music, inviting listeners to meaningfully connect with each song.
Andrea’s live performances are uplifting, intimate, and community-focused—and have been felt at festivals across Australia and New Zealand—including Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival, Port Fairy, Cygnet, Blue Mountains, Illawarra, Yackandandah, and Noosa Eat & Drink Festival in 2025.
Music in the Gardens is a series of free outdoor concerts set in the picturesque Albury Botanic Gardens, taking place on the third Sunday of March, April, May, September—and for this final event—Sunday, 16 November 2025, from 1 pm to 3 pm.
The Gardens are transformed into an open-air amphitheatre, inviting the community to unwind on the beautifully landscaped lawns while soaking in Andrea’s captivating performance of soulful, island-tinged folk.
Music in the Gardens will be located in the rose garden area, due to the ongoing redevelopment of the Elms.
