This is an Albuquerque event for a massive national day of defiance and protest. It is a response to the military parade scheduled in D.C. The Albuquerque event will feature a children's parade around a large field in the park, to mock it and have fun. It will be a large community event with various activities and speakers.
We have a designated shady spot to setup and play and dance, and we will be at the head of the children's parade with the parade master to set the beat and fire up the paraders!
Gather at Mariposa Basin Park and we will play near the children's area a bit away from the stage. For those who played with us at Civic Plaza on April 5, this will be a different as it is more of a community fair and we will not be at stage-side.
We are in a shady area but bring water and sun protection, snacks, something to sit on, and your drums and dancing feet. There will be some fun things for kids and others to play with us.
They are expecting a crowd of at least 5,000. Parking will be tight. Arriving early and carpooling are recommended. If there is no parking when you arrive, you can unload your gear if necessary and then head to overflow parking a short walk away.
We need to make this big! Please rsvp on the invitation so we have a good idea of how to set up. And get in on leading the childrens' parade! Post questions and comments in the discussion section here. Let's make some noise!
