This isn’t a writing workshop. This is a ritual.
A remembering. A call to rise.
If your pen has ever trembled with truth, this is your altar.
WRITING WORKSHOP FOR TRUTH-BEARERS
El Chante Casa de Cultura
804 Park Ave SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Sunday, June 1st, 5PM
They always say:
“Tone it down.”
“Make it digestible.”
“Don’t make people uncomfortable.”
But here, we don’t write for comfort.
We write to shake the bones of empire.
To conjure what was buried.
To spit sunlight through cracked teeth and call it sacred.
I’ve bled across pages.
Spoken spells into microphones.
I’ve used poems to grieve, to organize, to come back home to myself.
This is for the truth-bearers.
The story-keepers.
The ones who carry whole histories in their throats.
Not for performance. Not for prestige.
We write to decolonize. To heal. To remember.
This isn’t some ivory tower poetry.
This is poetry from the dirt, the drum, the diaspora.
From ceremony and street corners.
From elders and echoes and holy rage.
Led by me, Albuquerque Poet Laureate, 4x Slam Champ, and 20+ years deep in this poetry-as-medicine, poetry-as-revolution life.
Limited spots. No fluff. No filters.
Just real ones. Ready ones.
If your voice is pulsing in your chest,
If your story keeps you up at night,
Then come.
Write it.
Speak it.
Set the world on fire with your voice.
What truth are you ready to write down, speak out loud, unafraid?
Tag the writers, warriors, and wounded healers who need to be in this circle.
Because if you don’t write your story,
they’ll rewrite it without you.
And they’ll get it all wrong.
