Discover your painting style in this hands-on workshop designed to introduce and explore the two foundational methods of oil painting: direct (alla prima) and indirect (layered/glazing) techniques. Whether you're new to oils or looking to deepen your skills, this class offers a practical and approachable way to understand the strengths of each method. Through guided instruction and studio time, you’ll get the chance to experiment, compare, and decide which technique best fits your creative process.
By the end of the class, you’ll walk away with new confidence, essential painting knowledge, and a clearer direction for your personal practice. Supplies are not included in the cost of the workshop.
Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
