Join us for a captivating evening of maritime history as Ross Shardlow, marine artist and President of the Maritime Heritage Association, shares the extraordinary story of The Search and Rescue of the Albany Pilot Launch Pelican.

This engaging talk uncovers the heartfelt and at times humorous journey to track down and reclaim the Pelican—a vessel rumoured to be over 100 years old and a proud servant of Albany’s port for five decades. With a deep passion for Albany’s maritime legacy and as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his contributions to marine art and heritage, Ross brings insight, intrigue, and local pride to the stage.

Expect a night of local storytelling, maritime mystery, and a few surprising twists—including multiple “Pelicans” and a rescue mission in progress!
