Another World Isn't Possible & Gilded Rage Book readings with Brendan Byrne

Troy-based author and HWFC MO Brendan C. Byrne has just published a new collection of short stories entitled Another World Isn't Possible.To celebrate the release, Brendan will read a short selection from one of his stories. Also in attendance will be Brooklyn-based author and journalist, Jacob Silverman, an old friend of Brendan's and the author of the upcoming non-fiction book Gilded Rage: Elon Musk and the Radicalization of Silicon Valley. Jacob will read a short selection as well, and then both authors will engage in a discussion about our future, the billionaires who believe they own it, and how we can fight back with books.Brendan C. Byrne was born in the District of Columbia and now lives in Troy. He has published three novellas: The Showing of the Instruments (2011), The Training Commission (2019, with Ingrid Burrington), and Accelerate (2021). His short fiction and criticism appear in a variety of organs. He has been a HWFC MO since 2022.Jacob Silverman is the author of Terms of Service: Social Media and the Price of Constant Connection and co-authored with Ben MacKenzie Easy Money: Cryptocurrency, Casino Capitalism, and the Golden Age of Fraud. He's a contributing editor at The New Republic and The Baffler, and his work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, and Slate. He is co-writer and host of The Naked Emperor, a new limited podcast series about the rise and fall of FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried.
