Join us for a special educational day dedicated to the Egyptian Tortoise, one of the most endangered species in Egypt.
This experience aims to raise awareness and build a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the Egyptian tortoise, the "ex-situ" conservation work being done by Nature Conservation Egypt's Tortoise care program and the challenges to reintroduction to the wild.
Through a visit to the conservation program's facility, facilitated activities and guided discussion we will learn about the above topics and explore what we as individuals can do and what potential volunteering opportunities can look like.
This unique experience aims to:
- raise awareness about the Egyptian tortoise (and other endangered), conservation status and threats to the population
- build a deeper understanding of tortoise care and conservation
- highlight and support the work being done for Egyptian tortoise conservation, release and wilderness repopulation by NCE-Nature Conservation Egypt
- show and model what citizen science and volunteering activities are already in place
- open opportunities for stewardship, engagement and volunteering with Tortoise Care
