The 4th and final Surf Coast Century training run (on leg 4) covering the 22km from Moggs Creek to Anglesea will take place on Sunday 17th August.
The training runs have been very popular this year with 50-70 people attending each run because they let you see the course, meet some other runners and visit a beautiful place.
Leg 4 is where you bring it home all the way to the finish and is the personal favourite of ours due to the variety of landscapes and trails you run along. This section of course is raced only in the 100km in 2025 (but 50km runners are MOST WELCOME to come and run as well!)
The training run will be hosted by our friends at the Surf Coast Trail Runners – and will be conducted as a friendly group run with everyone running at their own pace but safe in the knowledge that there are other runners.
Listed below are the final plans for the training run – please read and take note:
WHERE: Start - Meet at the Moggs Creek Picnic Ground here:

Finish – at the 'Anglesea Lions Park' in Anglesea - opposite the main shops
https://goo.gl/maps/KY5ABnVFGcJzp4Hx5.
There are toilets at both locations but there is no drinking water at the start.
WHEN: Meet at the start at Moggs Creek at 8:00am dressed ready for a 8:10am departure.
NAVIGATION: The course will NOT BE MARKED for the training run.
So it is essential that everyone to HAS THE COURSE ROUTE ON YOUR PHONE and/or your watch so you know where to go.
This is super easy - CLICK THIS LINK:
https://link.avenza.com/rkWq to install the Avenza mapping app (if not already installed) and download the course map to your phone. The map will work when you have no phone reception and your position will be identified with a blue circle.
Further explanation of how to put the maps on your phone and download the GPX files are on the website here:
https://surfcoastcentury.rapidascent.com.au/event-details/the-race/course-descriptions/
EQUIPMENT: Please be completely self sufficient for the run, so bring your phone (with mapping app and route), hydration / nutrition and clothing for the run. There is water at the 9km pt at the Aireys Inlet Skate Park (opposite the shops) but few other places on the trail.
TRANSPORTATION arrangements: Runners must organise your own transportation back to your car... We suggest dropping a car at the finish at Anglesea at ~7:30am and car pooling with others to go to the start. Use this Facebook event page to arrange a few rides as there are always cars going from the finish to start.
ACCOMMODATION: We greatly encourage you to make a weekend of it and book a short term holiday rental through our event partner - The Great Ocean Road Holidays. Check out their range of accommodation options here:
