Special Event: Othello Wilson: Let Your Light Shine Showing at Rockfish Valley Community Center

Join us as we honor the rich musical heritage of Nelson County and its lasting legacy through the work of renowned music educator Othello Wilson. In collaboration with Rockfish Valley Community Center, the Nelson County Historical Society, and the Oakland Museum, Wintergreen Music is proud to present a special screening of Jonathan Page’s recently completed documentary about Othello Wilson titled “Let Your Light Shine.” In the 1930s, Othello Wilson sparked a cultural and educational renaissance in one rural Virginia community for its struggling black citizens affected by Jim Crow laws and the Great Depression. His educational medium was music. The event will be followed by a live Q&A with Producer and Director Jonathan Page, a Nelson County Native, as well as performances by LEAD Cooperative students, offering a unique opportunity to experience the story and music that have shaped our community.
