Day of Mindfulness: Open To One's Own Suffering

Mindfulness practice strengthens our capacity to be touched and open to one’s own suffering, not avoiding nor explaining it away. To actually hear the critical and blaming inner voice reminding us of all our inadequacies, mistakes, not getting what we want, not being who it thinks we ought to be and to ask, Who is this petty tyrant! Time to pause, breathe.

In the silence listen for the soothing sounds or the awakening sense of being understood, accepted and loved. Begin to experience the taste, the touch and the warmth of self-compassion.
