The Optimist and the Tricky Magic - a Dan Withey art show

Praxis Artspace is thrilled to welcome back Dan Withey with his latest solo exhibition, The Optimist and the Tricky Magic. Since his first show with us in 2020, Withey has become a familiar and much-loved presence at Praxis, presenting six exhibitions that have each revealed new layers of his bold and playful practice. Earlier this year he joined forces with ceramicist Violet Cooper for a dynamic two-person show, but this time he’s taking over the entire gallery.



With his trademark humor, vivid colors and offbeat characters, Withey creates a world where optimism collides with mischief, and everyday encounters become tinged with strange, magical possibilities. The Optimist and the Tricky Magic invites audiences to step inside that world, where the rules are never quite fixed and joy is always close at hand.
