EVENT: Explore Port Adelaide then BBQ at Naval Association (New Members Welcome)

MEET TIME: 9.00am to be on the water for 9.30am
DURATION: 6 to 8km, allow 4 -5 hrs overall (including BBQ)

DESCRIPTION:
The Paddle will commence from the beach at Riverview St, Cruickshank Corner near the Birkenhead Hotel. We will then paddle under the Tom (Diver) Derrick Bridge and check out the new berth for the Clipper Ship, City of Adelaide in Dock Two.
We will then return under the bridge to inspect progress of the Starfish Housing Development around Dock One. Next, we continue past Ketch Falie, Port Adelaide Light house then under Birkenhead Bridge and up Port Creek checking out local sights such as Yitpi Yartapuultiku - Port Adelaide's Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Hart’s Mill and Tam O’Shanter Creek site.
Return will be a leisurely paddle checking out the docks on the northern side of the Port, passing the Fletchers Slip area and then back to Birkenhead Hotel.
After arriving back at Cruickshank Corner we will pack up and move to the Port Adelaide Naval Association for a BBQ Lunch (About 12.30pm). If you are interested in Naval History, particularly in South Australia, then the Naval Association is well worth a visit.
