For the uninitiated, CPL, or Chertsey Premier League, now in its ninth year, is sponsored by West End Garage, and is a bright, bold, interclub competition with four Chertsey-themed teams battling it out over 20 overs and four rounds, culminating in a big Finals Day send off Bank Holiday weekend in August.
The conclusion of CPL9 is upon us, and we can now reveal the theme of the day - we're hosting our own music festival! You can take your Glastonbury, stick you're Coachella, we've got... CP-ELLA 2025.
Over on the main stage (ie the pitch), from 11.30am we'll be hosting the Semi-final between Grove Armada and Gogmore Knights, and then the headline act, the Final, between Meads Enforcers and the winner of the semi-final at 4pm.
All this will be accompanied by DJ PicNMix, aka Ross Berry, our house DJ, then in the evening we'll have local band Covers Blown, before DJ PicNMix returns for a late-night set to see us into the night.
There's also the Pirate Ship stage in the corner, hosted by Bourne Stars, which will be providing merriment and lubrication throughout the day, closing down at nightfall.
Plus new for 2025, in-between the Semi-final and Final we'll be hosting a catching competition, where entrants can win a £50 bar tab.
Let's just hope it isn't a mud-bath... pack your wellies and glow in the dark face paint just in case.
