A Faithful Narrative - The story of Jane Austen

Georgettes of Oxford presents 'A Faithful Narrative - The story of Jane Austen' told through drama, dance and music by both professional and community performers.

Come and watch this very special performance written for this event telling the life story of Jane Austen. The play will transport the audience back to the time of Jane Austen with historical dance demonstrations from Austen’s life, see how both the dance and costume evolved from 1775 to 1817, listen to professional early music musicians perform pieces of music from her collection on period instruments, hear Austen’s words from her letters and watch extracts from Austen’s novels performed by a mix of our group of community actors and professional actors.

As part of our Jane Austen 250 celebrations we are holding a two-day event in The Unicorn Theatre in the historical Abingdon Abbey Buildings culminating in a performance telling the life story of Jane Austen through the narrative of music, dance and drama.

If you would like to be involved as one of our costumed historical dancers, please get in touch.
We will be rehearsing the dances in St Peter’s Church, Wolvercote, Oxford on Fridays: 4th & 18th of July, and 1st & 8th of August and at The Unicorn Theatre 9th of August
Attendance to all rehearsals is desirable, but not essential.
No under 18s
