Beer, Bangers & Brunch: Saturday, July 19th
A Grain Theory Summer Event Series
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Upstairs at Grain Theory | Free Entry
Our summer brunch series continues—and this one’s lining up with one of the biggest days of the season: Downtown Abilene’s ArtWalk: CarWalk.
Beer, Bangers & Brunch is our once-a-month Saturday event where we turn brunch into something more: live music, local vendors, limited-time food specials, and a relaxed atmosphere upstairs at Grain Theory with views over downtown and the streets buzzing below.
The name Beer, Bangers & Brunch says it all—“bangers” because our DJs are spinning nothing but crowd-pleasing bangers all morning long, and because Chef Rob is rolling out a one-day-only brunch special called “Bangers in a Blanket.” This dish, made fresh from the GT kitchen, is available exclusively during this event and pairs perfectly with a mimosa (or two).
For the July 19th edition, we’re bringing in DJ Kimblee (Darek Gomez)—a well-known name in the Abilene music scene who’s gained recognition beyond West Texas for his high-energy, genre-blending sets. Darek has performed at venues across the metroplex and worked with major artists in the industry, but he still brings it home. He’ll be spinning a mix of trap, rap, hype, and street to match the momentum of ArtWalk and keep the upstairs space alive all afternoon.
We’ll also be joined by Bakes For Angels, a local sourdough bakery known for their artisan bread and creative takes on fermentation. For this brunch, they’re baking up special-edition sourdough loaves made with Grain Theory beer—a truly one-of-a-kind collaboration available only during this event.
As always, our full brunch menu will be available, along with $5 mimosa specials and our full-service coffee bar. Everything takes place upstairs on our second-story balcony, with the garage doors rolled up, great airflow, and easy access to everything happening downtown.
CarWalk, hosted by the Center for Contemporary Arts, will bring a showcase of vintage, classic, and custom vehicles to the ArtWalk footprint—paired with live music, food vendors, and local artists. While we don’t know exactly where the car show will be set up yet, we’re planning to be right in the middle of the action.
No cover, no reservations—just good food, great music, creative vendors, and one of the best Saturdays of the summer in Downtown Abilene.
