Mats Steen, a Norwegian gamer, died of a degenerative muscular disease at the age of 25. His parents mourned what they thought had been a lonely and isolated life, until messages began pouring in from his online friends around the world. Through his World of Warcraft avatar, Ibelin, Mats had built deep connections, adventures, and a legacy that reached far beyond his small room
