Healthy Habits Grocery Store Tour

Healthy grocery shopping can be overwhelming, especially with the rising cost of food. Learn tips, tricks, and ideas for healthy food shopping while sticking to a budget. Join the Family and Consumer Sciences Educator from Pasco County Extension on this interactive learning experience.

On this tour, you'll learn about:

• Reading food labels and marketing claims on packages

• How to make a healthy meal using the five food groups

• Buying fruits and vegetables on a budget

• Using unit pricing to comparison shop

• Identifying whole grains

• And more!

At the end of the tour, practice what you just learned with the healthy shopping challenge! Receive a $20 Walmart gift card per household and shop for a meal for your family using all five food groups. See how far your gift card will go while keeping nutrition and budgeting in mind.

Children are allowed, but please keep in mind the tour lasts about one hour, and the shopping challenge is around half an hour. You must stay for the shopping challenge to receive the gift card.

Meet in the front on the grocery side of the store (I will have a sign). A welcome email with more information will be sent just prior to the event. Space is limited, and registration on EventBrite is required.
