Influenciados por el metal de culto, el doom, el sludge, el rock progresivo y la música psicodélica, Black Pyramid consolidó su sonido con su álbum debut de 2009, publicado por Meteorcity Records. Este álbum homónimo es considerado por muchos fans y críticos como un clásico del género y ha sido reeditado en múltiples ocasiones gracias a su éxito en el underground. Con Andy Beresky a la guitarra y voz, Eric Beaudry al bajo y Andy Kivela a la batería, rápidamente cristalizaron nuevos elementos en su repertorio sonoro, incorporando arreglos experimentales, paisajes sonoros psicodélicos y extensas improvisaciones en su monolítico y rugiente trío de doom.
