This is a two-part session with Alyssa "Twist" Light
Session 1: All Decked Out and Somewhere To Go
A great slide deck can be the difference between an average audience experience and an excellent one. Imagine having slides that are so fabulous, people comment on them in surveys! If you’re curious about how to level up your deck, this session is for you.
Using Canva, Twist will demonstrate the profound difference simple choices can make, including the Less-is-Better Method, animations and transitions, and how to stay on brand. She'll show before-and-after examples (including one she built for the Director of Premium Services for the Las Vegas Raiders) and talk you through how to make great design choices.
Twist will also share how she responds to questions from meeting professionals and AV teams about accessing and sharing her decks. Bring your laptop, try some techniques out, and start creating a deck that elevates not only your audience’s experience, but also changes how you see yourself.
NOTE: Although not necessary, some familiarity with Canva is helpful. Nearly everything Twist will be teaching is transferable to PowerPoint and Keynote.
Session 2: Dazzling Program Descriptions - How to craft write-ups so juicy that people actually want to come to your session!
Whether you're responding to an RFP or providing a session description for an upcoming engagement, a well crafted write up can be the difference between success and failure — in other words, a fully engaged audience vs. empty chairs and snoring people.
Twist will open your mind to the power of an opening line, talk about the influence of magical adjectives, show examples of 'before and after' write ups, and provide a structure and formula for attracting a great audience. Twist will also do on-the-spot live re-crafting of her peer's session descriptions — so bring yours along.
If you want people to say "I've got to go to this session!" when they see your program in a conference agenda, then this session is a must on your 2025 professional development schedule!
