About the event

Working with Suicide Risk through a Therapeutic Lens: Building Confidence in Practice
Working with clients with suicidal thoughts is an integrated part of therapeutic practice. This workshop aims to encourage you to develop your confidence as a practitioner whilst working with risk. You will be encouraged to consider your own perceptions and thoughts around suicide to enable you to support both your clients and yourself.

✳️Who is this course for?
This half-day online workshop is for any counsellor, psychotherapist or therapeutic coach, either qualified or in training, who wishes to find a safe and supportive space to explore their practice and work with clients at risk of suicide.

✳️ What will I learn?
The underlying assumption of this workshop is that work with clients who have suicidal thoughts is the therapy, rather than simply to be managed. But to achieve this level of engagement around risk we need to be willing to explore our own positions, thoughts, feelings and practice assumptions and consider active ways we can support both our clients and ourselves. We will consider latest research, guidance and frameworks about suicidal thinking and consider how we might appropriately integrate these into our therapeutic relationships.

✳️ How will I learn?
The session will include formal presentation and plenty of group discussion. There will be no expectation of personal disclosure, but it is hoped this will be a safe and facilitated space for you to explore your practice, thoughts and feelings through discussion with others.
