The Make Space York Festival 2025
A programme of free events and activities designed especially for teenage girls - with some sessions also open to women
(and some for girls age 8+ too)
14–15 June – Rowntree Park
21–22 June – Homestead Park
The range of events and activities provide a space for girls to try new things, meet new people and have fun in public spaces.
From sports & exercise, arts & crafts, performance, photography, nature walks, zine making and much more!
Sessions are free - booking required for some. There are also plenty of drop-in activities and some stalls to enjoy in a relaxed, community-focused setting.
PLEASE NOTE - the term ‘festival’ is used loosely - the community feel is important.

This festival is in its third year and is part of a wider project focused on creating welcoming parks for teenage girls. The project aims to address the drop off in girls use of parks, compared to boys, as they enter their teenage years. The range of activities and events to to get them back into the space and know they belong.
