BEEKEEPING and APITHERAPY…..TOMORROW!!
Come find out all about bees, beekeeping and apitherapy from Bev our local Toodyay apiarist. This free community event is Saturday 19 July 2025 9.30am - 11.30am.
We’re all very excited and look forward to listening to Bev of ‘Bev’s Busy Bees’ as she shares her passion, knowledge and experiences with bees.
Bev will discuss the benefits of the different hive options, focusing on the benefits of Slovenian Hives and Horizontal Hives.
Bev says Horizontal hives are the way to go as we age, for beekeeping can be heavy work. Over your lifetime you could lift over 3 TONNES per hive with the conventional style hive, however, with the Horizontal Hive there is no lifting. Horizontal Hives also allow people of ALL ABILITIES to enjoy keeping bees. These hives are very simple to make using either store bought timber, or recycle whatever you come across. See examples of being innovative.
Bev says, “Looking inside a beehive, we see bees work hard to keep their home healthy. The air inside is constantly being circulated to maintain a healthy environment for their family. This movement of air is circulating micro particles of pollen, propolis, and wax”.
Bev will share how we can tap into this healthy environment with Apitherapy which is the use of substances produced by honeybees (such as venom, propolis, or honey) to treat various medical conditions. She’ll also share her knowledge of Bio-Resonance Therapy (BRT).
The morning will begin with a short talk and power point presentation, followed by the opportunity to walk-around the display of different hive types.
Free honey tasting will be available, so come along and taste at least 4 different honeys and discover the flowers that produce the variation of flavours. Tea and Coffee provided.
