Join us for a weekend full of horsemanship, heart, and community at the Dakota Showdown Finale—a two-day celebration of rescue horses, dedicated trainers, and the journey from untouched to unbreakable bond.
Whether you're a horse enthusiast, looking for your next equine partner, or just love a good time with great people, there's something for everyone!
🐴 Saturday, August 23 – Open Horse Show
Kick off the weekend with our Open Horse Show, featuring a full slate of fun and family-friendly classes for all ages and skill levels. Come ride, cheer, and enjoy a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Registration details will be posted soon!
🏆 Sunday, August 24 – Dakota Showdown Finale
The main event! Our Showdown horses and trainers take the spotlight in this exciting finale, showcasing what they’ve accomplished over the summer.
✨ Foundation Division – 3-year-old untouched BLM mustangs
✨ Showcase Division – Rescue horses started or restarted under saddle
✨ Rising Star Division – Yearlings learning essential skills with youth/novice trainers
Finalists will compete in handling and obstacle courses, under saddle work, and freestyle demonstrations. At the end of the day, these amazing horses will be available for adoption through live competitive bidding—approved adopters only.
🛍️ All Weekend – Vendor Area & Tack Swap
Come shop a variety of equine-themed vendors, handmade crafts, and gently used tack at our community tack swap. Support small businesses, score great finds, and help grow this new Southeast South Dakota tradition!
🎯 Games & Activities
Bring the whole family! We’ll have fun barnyard games, kid-friendly activities, and a laid-back atmosphere where everyone’s welcome—whether you live in boots or just love animals.
📣 Admission is free for spectators, so invite your friends, bring your family, and don’t forget to rep your favorite team with a Team T-shirt or Tumbler!
