We’re excited to invite you to a very special event — The Night the Curtain Fell: A Golden Commemoration — marking the 50th anniversary of the fire that nearly destroyed the iconic Capitol Theatre.
On this memorable evening, we’ll gather to honor the rich history and enduring spirit of our beloved theatre. A series of free educational lectures will offer fascinating insights into the Capitol’s past, its architecture, and the fire of 1975 — an event that shaped our community in powerful ways.
Event Highlights:
• Optional ticketed reception on the Capitol Theatre stage starting at 6 PM (doors open 5:30 PM) — enjoy an exclusive atmosphere, complimentary appetizers by John Gasperetti, and a special beer brewed just for this event by Bale Breaker Brewing Company
• Free lecture series beginning at 7 PM (doors open 6:30 PM) featuring expert speakers sharing stories about the Capitol Theatre’s history, architecture, and the fire
• Opportunities to share your own memories and stories in-person at the event — on video, via vintage phones, or on a community story board — plus options to submit stories online or by voicemail before and after the event
Please note: While the lectures are completely free, tickets are required to attend both the lectures and the reception. The reception is an optional, ticketed addition to the free lectures.
