Trauma Writers Group
Whether you’re new to writing or have years of experience, this is a welcoming, skill-focused space where trauma survivors can share their stories, exchange feedback, and grow as writers. We focus on the craft of turning lived experiences into compelling, meaningful narratives—while honoring each writer’s pace and comfort level.
Critique and discussion are essential tools for improving your work, and in this group you’ll receive thoughtful, constructive feedback from fellow survivors who understand the sensitivity of your subject matter. Together, we’ll explore topics like structure, pacing, voice, and how to write about difficult experiences in a way that is both impactful and respectful to yourself and others.
Writing about your trauma story is much different than any other type of writing! Gather with fellow survivors to learn and share ideas on how to write your story in an effective and healing way. Get gentle feedback and insight from fellow writers who can assist in making your book a success.
*Note: this is an educational class intended to gain knowledge, feedback and build community. It is not intended to be therapy or a replacement to therapy or a support group, but a place to grow as a writer and tell your story.
Each month, members can submit a short piece of writing in advance or bring it to share during the meeting. We’ll read and discuss each piece, offering insights to help refine your storytelling and strengthen your confidence as a writer.
