Guided historical and architectural walking tour with Rafał Eysymontt
From Siedem Włók Estate to BWA Wrocław
A successive meeting in the series of the Progress and Seasons in the Park events. On the last Saturday of June we propose a guided walking tour during which we shall get to know with city transformations that took place in the vicinity of Kolejowa Street as well as with the remaining historical architecture of that street and its neighbouring streets: Tęczowa Prosta and Trójcy Świętej.
We shall gain access to the former wagon production plant and the former Reich Post Office building where we will be able admire relics of the post-industrial brick architecture in an excellent state of conservation. We shall learn about their original function the designers of those historical buildings and the ways how to make most of the values of such historical monuments today. During the tour we shall be able to reflect on the presence of history in the city’s contemporary life the permanence of the matter and the idea of regeneration of the urban fabric.
The walking tour shall be guided by Prof. Rafał Eysymontt.
Practical information:
RAFAŁ EYSYMONTT – Art historian with a long-standing interest in Wrocław-related subjects as an initiator editor and co-author of the Wrocław volume of The Historical Atlas of Polish Cities and The Lexicon of Architecture of Wrocław as well as an author of numerous works on urban architecture. His scientific specialisation is the history of architecture and urban planning as well as problems of the preservation of historical monuments. Rafał Eysymontt is an active participant in the process of giving opinion on urban planning and monument preservation activities undertaken in Wrocław. Currently he is also the Director of Wrocław University’s Institute of Art History.
