🌿 Willow Deer Sculpture Workshop with Nature Sculptress Jayne Hopwood 🌿
Step into a world of creativity and craftsmanship in the heart of the Welsh countryside, where you’ll learn to sculpt a beautiful baby willow deer (waist high) under the guidance of Jayne Hopwood, a renowned flora and fauna artist and sculptress. Known for her inspiring, nature-focused workshops, Jayne invites you to explore the art of willow weaving, gaining skills that connect you with both heritage techniques and innovative 3D design.
In this immersive day-long workshop, each participant will:
• Craft their own waist-high willow deer to take home and adorn their garden or home
• Learn transferable skills in heritage weaving techniques, including random weave and traditional basketry methods
• Explore the process of transforming ideas into tangible 3D concepts, guided with step-by-step support from Jayne
• Enjoy a welcoming drink and snack upon arrival, with a warm lunch of hot soup provided at midday
What to Expect:
• Morning Session: Begin with an introduction to designing with willow and the fundamentals of willow weaving. Jayne will guide you through each stage of creation, weaving alongside you to ensure confidence with each step.
• Afternoon Session: After lunch, dive back into your project to bring your deer to life, adding the final touches and watching as your work takes shape.
All materials are included, including locally sourced willow. Just bring your favourite secateurs if you’d like, dress warmly for both indoor and outdoor creativity, and prepare to enjoy a day of discovery and relaxation. You’ll leave with not only your stunning willow sculpture but also newfound skills and memories of a beautiful day.
