About this Event

Mae'n iach, mae'n dda i'r amgylchedd, gall fod yn hwyl, ond nid ydym wedi taro'r hoelen ar ei phen eto: Gweithredu teithio llesol ar gyfer iechyd cyhoeddusDr Chris White
Darlithydd mewn Iechyd, Iechyd Meddwl a Lles

Mae llawer o fuddiannau i'w cael trwy deithio mewn ffyrdd corfforol, megis cerdded neu feicio, ond beth yw goblygiadau gweithredu 'Teithio Llesol'? Mae gwaith ymchwil a gynhaliwyd gan dimau iechyd cyhoeddus ym Manceinion wedi llywio polisïau Teithio Llesol, a bydd y ddarlith hon yn amlinellu'r amrywiol faterion sy'n codi wrth eu gweithredu a sut y gall gweithwyr iechyd proffesiynol, swyddogion y cyhoedd, a thrigolion ledled Manceinion a thu hwnt, eu profi.

Mae'r rhelyw ohonom yn hoff o'r hwylustod o gael car. Gall llunio llwybrau beicio hawdd i'w defnyddio mewn dinasoedd fod yn aml yn ddrud. Sut y gallwn oresgyn y rhwystrau wrth gynllunio a gweithredu Teithio Llesol?

Mae natur eang y pwnc (teithio llesol) yn golygu y gall y ddarlith fod o ddiddordeb i gynifer o bobl sy'n gweithio o fewn y sector gyhoeddus neu elusennol, ynghyd âg unrhyw un o'r cyhoedd sydd â diddordeb mewn teithio llesol a/neu sydd â phryderon am yr hinsawdd. Cynghorwyr, swyddogion awdurdod lleol, timau iechyd cyhoeddus, meddygon, cynllunwyr trafnidiaeth, addysgwyr a llawer mwy.

AM Y SIARADWR

Derbyniodd Chris radd PhD yn ddiweddar mewn Seicoleg Gweithgaredd Corfforol ac Ymarfer Corff, a law yn llaw â'i waith addysgu, mae wedi cynnal gwaith ymchwil gyda sefydliadau megis Yr Adran Drafnidiaeth, SUSTRANS, Cyngor Bwrdeistref Wrecsam, a Public Health England. "Rwy'n ceisio cyfleu canfyddiadau fy PhD mewn dull hygyrch, yn canolbwyntio ar y gwahanol oblygiadau ymarferol i amrywiaeth eang o bobl sy'n debygol o fynychu”.

It’s healthy, it’s good for the environment, it can be fun, but we’re not quite there yet: Implementation of active travel for public healthDr Chris White
Lecturer in Health, Mental Health and Well-Being

Travelling in physically active ways, like walking and cycling, can bring many benefits, but what are the realities of implementing 'Active Travel'? Research undertaken with public health teams in Greater Manchester has informed Active Travel policies, and this lecture will outline various implementation issues and how they might be experienced by health professionals, public officers, and residents, across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Most of us are attached to the convenience of having a car. Creating user-friendly cycle paths in cities is often costly. How do we overcome the many barriers to planning and implementing Active Travel?

The broad nature of this topic (active travel) means that the lecture could be of interest to so many of those working in public sector and charity roles, as well as anyone with a keen interest in active travel and/or climate concerns amongst the wider public. Councillors, local authority officers, public health teams, medics, transport planners, educators, and beyond.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Chris has recently been awarded his PhD in Sociology of Physical Activity and Exercise, and, alongside his various teaching roles, has conducted research-based work with organisations such as the Department for Transport, SUSTRANS, Wrexham Borough Council, and Public Health England. “I aim to convey my PhD findings in an accessible manner, homing in on the different practical implications for a wide variety of people likely to attend”.
