Tondo, Manila, is a place where people struggle on a daily basis. It is well known as one of the poorest regions in the Philippines. Born and raised here, rock singer/songwriter Otan Vargas spent his formative years surrounded mostly by poverty and despair.

It is this humble background that has helped motivate him and given him a perspective on life that is uncommon for most.

Otan's music is a powerfully simplistic combination of soul-stirring vocals accompanied by an earthy acoustic guitar. He writes songs about man's struggle, sorrow, and pain, as well as finding the strength to keep going. What started out simply as a means of personal therapy for himself has transformed into an inspirational beacon for adoring fans worldwide.

He has shared the stage with well-known rock singer-songwriters, such as Aaron Lewis of Staind, Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour, Shaun Morgan of Seether, and Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace/Saint Asonia.

On September 4th, 2022, Otan Vargas received a standing ovation after his performance at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, MA, opening for Aaron Lewis.

Coming from humble beginnings, he has worked his way up from performing at small coffee shops on Long Island and in New York City to performing at prestigious venues across the country, such as the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, CA, the Premiere Theater at Foxwoods Resorts Casino, and the Plaza at MGM Casino.

His song "Hollow Destination" has been featured in a documentary film directed by Fran Strine called " Battlefield of the Mind." a film by Fran Strine (Hired Gun on Netflix) that focuses on US veterans who are suffering from PTSD and depression. Since then, he has performed at many charity events that help US troops and their families, such as the Boot Campaign Foundation Event in Los Angeles, CA, and Oklahoma, OK.

He currently lives in New York and Massachusetts and plans to perform in Europe and Asia in the near future.
