“The day is past and gone, the evening shades appear…”
Join us for an evening of raw, powerful harmony singing as Brighton Shape Note brings the haunting sound of The Sacred Harp & The Shenandoah Harmony to Worthing Dark Fest.
Shape-note singing is an ancient American tradition: voices raised together in full-voiced four-part harmony, with songs of life, death, hope, and eternity. Usually there are no performers and no audience just a room filled with sound that is at once stark, beautiful, and unforgettable. For this rare event, we're inviting folk to come along and listen in as part of Worthing Dark Fest.
Expect an atmosphere that’s dark yet uplifting, perfectly tuned to the spirit of the Festival:
“And am I born to die?
To lay this body down…”
Whether you’re a long-time singer, curious newcomer, or simply looking for something dark and different, step inside the Toad In The Hole and let the noise carry you.
