Join us for a guided, interactive walk along the Indian Lake shoreline to learn how to identify common invasive plants in Worcester’s urban landscape. Starting at the Indian Lake Community Garden, the walk will follow a counterclockwise route along Shore Drive with approximately 10 educational stops ending at the UU Garden on Shore Drive. Participants will observe invasive species such as Japanese knotweed, oriental bittersweet, and purple loosestrife, and learn how these species affect native ecosystems and what local residents can do to help.
Audience: This walk is suitable for children of any age when accompanied by an adult, and most stops will be accessible from paved surfaces, making it welcome for families, seniors and participants with mobility considerations.
Capacity: 25 people
All programming will take place at the Indian Lake Garden, across from 3 West Boylston Drive Worcester, MA 01606.
All events are subject to changes as a result of weather events. All cancelled and rescheduled events will be posted on the Indian Lake Community Association page: https://www.facebook.com/IndianLakeCommunityAssociation
The garden is a zero-waste site. All items or trash brought in, must be taken out of the garden.
The nearest public facility is located at Price Rite: 117 Gold Star Blvd. Seating at the garden can be limited, therefore if you’re able to provide your own outdoor chair or blanket to sit on, that would be appreciated.
