42Worcester is the Worcestershire 'alternative genre' monthly Spoken Word event covering gothic, horror, sci-fi and fantasy. It is held on the last Tuesday of every month— the online section opens at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.
42Worcester is a hybrid event. Our venue is the wonderful Script Haven, 104 High Street, Worcester - not far from the Cathedral - the cafe/bookshop/Spoken Word Hub in a historic building where Charles Dickens once stayed . . . If you can't get there in person, we are also on Zoom, for both audience members and performers.

We issue a prompt for most months of the year and while pieces that reflect the prompt are preferred, we understand that not everyone will have a piece that ‘fits’. That doesn't matter - we want to hear what you write!
And August is the month for Summer Holidays - whether it's the old-school buckets and spades on a ripely smelling British beach in a disintegrating seaside town with haunted amusement arcades and dead flies stuck on the greasy window of a strange old guest-house where no-one else is staying - or the boredom, queues and miserable cancelled-flight chaos of airports, with planes landing at a once-idyllic place where the locals resent you but at least the beer is cheap, and something might be happening out there in the disregarded Old Town . . . Whatever your choice of holiday, everybody seems to want to travel to the sun despite the wretched heatwave we've been enduring back at home . . . OK, I'm probably not the sunniest person you'll ever meet, and I do love a haunted hotel . . . Anyway, the theme for the August 42 is 'Nothing New Under the Sun' - indulge your imaginations for the holidays!!
