Ever wondered how these amazing electronic sounds are made?
Then make sure you're there for SYNTH SCHOOL from 6:00PM
Join Julz and take a trip into the world of synthesis, sound design and beat making. This is a hands-on workshop with real hardware, real synths and real drum machines.
We assume no prior knowledge, perfect for those with little or no experience. Our sessions are very casual, laidback and focused on exploration and learning. Join the classroom in a guided jam, or disappear into your own world, with a synth and some headphones.

Nicole Carroll is a composer, performer, sound designer, and builder working with audio, video, and tangible objects. Her work spans installation, improvisation, and fixed media performance, across noise, soundscape, and acousmatic genres. She is active as a sound designer and composer in theatre, performs electronic music under the alias “n0izmkr,” and builds custom synthesisers, controllers, and performance sensor systems. Her research focuses on generative systems that merge analog and digital technologies to create musical performance systems from non-musical sources. Additional interests include soft circuits and wearable sensors, augmented acoustic instruments, and AV synthesis on mobile devices and embedded systems.
Deceased Estates -

Since 2016, Deceased Estates has been exploring sonic ambient landscapes rich with timbral and textual discovery to intrigue and invite the observer elsewhere. Coming from Meanjin, Deceased Estates is a solo act that leverages electronic musical techniques and instruments to build on emotion and environment. Their aim is to make every set as unique as possible for the observer by creating a snapshot of the specific time and place. Deceased Estates brings an atmosphere of experimentation and expression to each set, on which the observer is gently guided to meditate both during the performance and afterwards.
Incorrect Circuit Diagram -
http://www.timothytate.com.au
An Australian creative technologist, researcher, composer and performer who makes use of obsolete recording technologies — magnetic tape/floppy disk drives, primitive sampling devices, CD Players — which he circuit-bends and uses in combination with his own hand-built electronics, to create notated compositions, immersive live performances, experimental electronic instruments and site-specific work. His music often explores notions of ‘composed glitch’ and weaves together complex feedback loops to create rich sonic landscapes.
mekema -
https://modular-station.com/artists/mekema
Joe Lodge creates minimal, lo-fi electronic ambient and experimental sounds using modular synths, open-source electronics, and idiosyncratic devices. Emphasizing process and minimalism, Mekema's work explores context and emergent properties through repetition in structure and motifs, while re-contextualizing ambient sound to create changes in perception.
Synth School: LIVE
You may have witnessed the social workshops held by Julz. A master facilitator of the “novice & dawless jam sesh”.
These live performances are done with the exact same classroom instruments: Monologues and Drumbrutes. Taking a bold “less is more” approach, expect simple and brutal acid house, occasionally veering into higher tempo genres.
