Moktar - Open Season

Fresh from dancefloors across the world, acclaimed DJ and Producer Moktar seamlessly blends techno with traditional Arabic instrumentation, drawing deeply from his Egyptian-Australian roots. His sound is fresh to Australia’s club scene, fusing complex rhythms and emotive melodies, all while embracing his cultural heritage.

Growing up in the Shire, Moktar faced racism and abuse, especially during the Cronulla riots. But instead of hiding his Middle Eastern background, he turned it into a source of pride. His debut EP, set for release on Mall Grab's Steel City Dance Discs label, showcases his hybrid style, with the single SILK standing as a testament to his journey. The track represents Moktar’s transformation from a young man ashamed of his heritage to one who celebrates it, both physically and spiritually.

Moktar’s music is primed to leave its mark on dancefloors. Catch him live at The Princess Theatre as part of Open Season, supported by very special guests.
