Mount Kimbie are a project that can usually be found at the atmospheric outskirts of dance music.
For over 15 years, they have been at the vanguard of electronic experimentation. Across four studio albums, the duo has continually refined their approach to texture and tone, evolving once again with The Sunset Violent—a 2024 release that drifts through shoegaze, post-rock, and ambient garage. Now, in 2025, Mount Kimbie return to Australia, bringing their restless sonic evolution to the stage.
From their breakout debut, Crooks & Lovers—a defining moment in London’s electronic underground—to the dancefloor-driven Cold Spring Fault Less Youth and the krautrock-infused Love What Survives, Dom and Kai have consistently reshaped the musical landscape around them. With The Sunset Violent, they push even further, weaving locomotive basslines, asymmetric rhythms, and glistening synth textures into something both raw and hypnotic, with flickering details tucked into the upper registers of guitar and synths.
Mount Kimbie’s discography is anything but conventional, filled with live albums, covers, features, and remixes—each reinforcing their reputation as artists who never miss. Their WXAXRPXP Session from 2019 stands as a prime example, an EP that captures the same alchemy as their studio work while translating their intricate sound into something immediate and visceral—an energy they will bring to the stage once again on this tour.
Beyond their live prowess, their DJ sets showcase some of the most left-leaning, atmospheric edges of dance music—a thumping mix of galloping techno, electro, and ambient garage. For this tour, they bring both dimensions of their artistry to Australia: a full live show at the Sydney Opera House, Brisbane’s Princess Theatre, and The Forum in Melbourne, alongside specially curated DJ sets in Perth, Adelaide, and at RISING’s Day Tripper.
