This course is designed to give students a greater understanding and experience on how to properly navigate underwater using both natural and compass navigation.
Who this course is for-
The certified diver looking for a higher sense of direction and orientation while scuba diving
Course prerequisites
SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent
Minimum age 18, 12 with parental consent
Recommended 10 or more logged dives, some of which must be recent (with-in the last 6 months)
Equipment requirements
All standard diving equipment plus
Underwater slate or wetnotes and Underwater compass
What you can expect to learn
The aquatic environment: vision, light, sound, tides, currents, waves, surge
Natural navigation techniques
Compass use
Estimating distances underwater using time and/or Kick cycles
Certification Requirements
Pre-Course Study: Prior to the start of the dives, students must successfully complete the online academics with course review or read the student Manual with IQ Review and course review .
Open Water Dives:
Students will complete two dives in an open water environment.
For this date we will be diving at at Trout Lake Quarry a short drive from KW.
Course fees do not include gear, tanks, air fills, travel, accommodations, park entry fees, training materials
