The History of Woodland Carnegie Library

Join us for an interesting presentation on the history of our library which benefited from an Andrew Carnegie Grant.
“The presentation will include the history of Woodland library services prior to the Carnegie, the original Carnegie grant and Woodland Public Library's distinction as the oldest continually operating Carnegie Library in the state of California, and the unusual history of a second Carnegie grant to co-locate the Yolo County Library services (to serve rural areas surrounding the City of Woodland) with the Woodland Public Library. This includes an interesting examination of funding issues as well as "turf" issues that have defined both systems over the years.”
