Communities that GIVE will receive in many other ways!
Corkscrew Wine Bar is hosting a fundraiser for a special family with great needs, financially and in prayer and support.
I've not met Ben personally as yet but many are great friends, including the Corkscrew family, to Ben's dad, Chuck Askren of La Valle and his wife, Lisa Polk-Askren, a Wonewoc native. I've heard and followed Ben's story and knew that this little wine bar had to do something to help.
Please consider making this fundraiser part of your Labor Day weekend by donating gifts and baskets to a Saturday silent auction and gift raffle.
Corkscrew will have live music on Friday night from 6 to 9pm with The Jammers under the party tent.
50/50 Raffles starting at 5pm.
Live music continues on Saturday afternoon with the amazing Somethin Simple from 2 to 5pm with 50/50 Raffles, Silent Auction and Gift Raffles to begin at noon and end at 5:30.
Please consider making your weekend part of this community outpouring of love and support for Ben and his family.
Here's a bit of Ben's story.
In late May, Ben Askren, a beloved coach, friend, husband, and father, became suddenly very ill with a systemic staph infection which attacked his lungs. He recently successfully underwent a double lung transplant and is now beginning his recovery journey. This is a significant milestone, but the road ahead is long and challenging.
While the immediate crisis has passed, Ben now faces an extensive recovery process and ongoing medical needs. The Family’s health coverage did not cover the organ transplant and related expenses. Friends and Family of the Askrens are aiming to raise funds to cover critical medical costs including post-transplant care, medications, and rehabilitation. Donations are tax-deductible and will go directly toward these medical and related expenses. We are overjoyed to see him progressing but recognize the continued support he'll need during this recovery phase.
Please keep Ben in your prayers as he navigates this new chapter.
Every gift brings us closer to supporting Ben's full recovery and return to health. Your continued generosity will make a significant difference in his post-transplant journey.
Thank you for your love, support, and prayers. Your kindness has been a beacon of hope for Ben and his family during this challenging time, and we are grateful for your ongoing support as he embarks on this new phase of healing."
