Ferragosto, one of Italy’s most beloved holidays, blends ancient Roman and Catholic traditions. First declared by Emperor Augustus in 18 BCE to mark the end of the summer harvest, it later aligned with the Feast of the Assumption. Today, it’s a peak summer celebration where Italians gather to relax and enjoy seasonal foods like fresh seafood, fruit, and chilled dishes. We’re bringing you the taste and tradition of Italy this summer.
